Research objectives of the research unit

1. Development of innovative, internationally competitive Geostatistical methods

2. Application of innovative and classical geostatistical methods on issues related to the environment and mineral resources

3. Stochastic methods and machine learning for data analysis

4. Interdisciplinary research and introduction of geostatistical tools in other scientific fields (eg, water resources, hydroclimatic data, pollution / hazard analysis, satellite data analysis, energy, porous media properties)

Educational objectives of the research unit

1. Development of skills for students to understand the basic concepts of Probability Theory and Statistics

2. Development of skills in the use of statistical methods with the aid of computer tools and scientific programming (Matlab, R, Python)

3. Application of statistical, geostatistical and time series methods to practical problems of geosciences
