General Information

The purpose of the School of Mineral Resources Engineering is to educate engineers in a broad range of scientific and technical methods and activities related to the detection, positioning, extraction, and processing of minerals, as well as to the environmental impact and remediation of land reclaimed from mining activities.

The coursework in the Mineral Resources Engineering School focuses in particular on the industrial minerals and energy resources, which play an important role in the development of the Greek economy.

The changing demand for minerals dictates the development and utilization of modern methods for exploration and exploitation. This trend generates the need to train engineers capable of meet the new challenges and forming appropriate specialized fields in higher education.

Undergraduate curriculum focuses on raw materials including metals, industrial minerals, petroleum, coal, natural gas and geothermal energy, which play a major role in the economic development of Greece.

According to Law 4957/2022, the successful completion of the programme of Mineral Resources Engineering School leads to the award of a single and integrated master's degree in the specialty of the School and the degree corresponds to a level seven (7) degree in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework.
