Our Research Goals

The Technical University of Crete focuses on promoting research in modern scientific and engineering disciplines. This policy aims to develop research capabilities in areas of advanced technology, leading to international collaborations, addressing practical problems of the industry and generating an impact on other sectors of the Greek economy, and in particular on the economy of the island of Crete. As a result, the rate of publications in international journals per faculty member at the Technical University of Crete compares very favorably to other Greek Universities.

The School of Mineral Resources Engineering is very active in applied and fundamental research. The research and development projects that are being conducted are funded by the European Community, the General Secretariat for Research and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor, the Public Power Corporation (PPC), the Prefecture of Crete, various Local Government Authorities, as well as Private Companies.
